PCA services

ABOUT PCA SERVICES:

  • Personal Care Attendants work closely with family members to ensure that the client's daily care needs are met. PCAs work under the license of a Registered Nurse who supervises the care that the PCA provides through regularly scheduled visits.
  • Most often PCA services are funded through Medical Assistance or TEFRA-Medical Assistance, and most waiver programs. If your child is on a Prepaid Medical Plan through Medical Assistance, this may also cover this service.
  • Before accessing PCA services through any agency, your child must be approved for services by a Public Health Nurse from your county health department or Prepaid Medical Plan. This assessment will focus on Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) which include eating, bathing, grooming, toileting, etc., but can also include aggressive, destructive, or self injurious behaviors. After completing this assessment your child may be approved for a specific amount of PCA services.
  • Once home care has been authorized, one of our RN Case Manages will visit you and your child in your home to create an individualized care plan to meet the needs of your child. After home care is implemented, your R.N. Case Manager will review your child's progress on a regular basis.
  • As our PCA staff works with your child, we focus on increasing your child's ability to successfully participate in and/or complete his/her own care needs.
