ABOUT PCA SERVICES:
- Personal Care Assistants work closely with the family to ensure that the child’s daily cares are met. PCAs are supervised either by agency qualified professionals or the family, depending on the service chosen.
- A Chance to Grow is both a Personal Care Provider Organization and a Personal Care Choice Provider. With Choice, families have the option to interview, hire, train, and supervise staff working with their children.
- PCA services are funded through Medical Assistance or TEFRA-Medical Assistance and most waivered programs. A Chance to Grow also accepts children who are in Prepaid Medical Plans, such as Blue Cross Blue Shield and UCare.
- Before accessing PCA services through our agency, your child must be approved for services by a Public Health Nurse from your county health department or the Prepaid Medical Plan. This assessment focuses on activities of daily living (such as eating, bathing, grooming, toileting, mobility), complexity of medical health issues, and behavioral concerns (aggressiveness, destructiveness, or self injurious behaviors). After completing the assessment, your child may be approved for a specific amount of services.

- Once services have been authorized, A Chance to Grow visits your home and your child to create an individualized care plan to meet the needs of your child. This visit allows us to work together in better defining the needs of the child, planned activities, and selecting the best individual to work with your child.
- After care begins, a Qualified Professional (RN or LSW) will review the care being provided and give guidance to the PCA, as needed.
