Many children and adults have difficulty paying attention, focusing or attending to the task at hand.   Others experience stress, depression, anxiety, seizures, and a variety of other problems serious enough that they interfere with learning, skills development and the performance of life tasks.   ACTG's Neurotechnology Clinic uses drug free techniques to help improve brain function in children and adults.

What Is Neurotechnology?

Neurotechnology techniques can be described as "Push-Ups" for the brain.   Neurotechnology may be viewed as brain exercise tools or strategies that can benefit all. Neurotechnology gets the brain in shape, resulting in the brain being more available to parents, teachers, and employers. Neurotechnology training enhances the brain's ability to have the capacity to produce more energy or access useful brain states when the situation dictates. With Neurotechnology, we train and exercise the brain to improve the brain's capacity to be flexible (shifting brain states) at the same time to improve stability (maintain brain states) when necessary.

A few of the tools used in Neurotechnology are EEG Neurofeedback and Audio Visual Entrainment.

How Can Neurotechnology Benefit Me?

With Neurotechnology, one learns how to relax deeply and let go of stresses and concerns of life.   This brain-exercising program appears to modify many conditions and disorders where the brain does not regulate itself efficiently.   Neurotech tools are utilized by many high functioning people   (e.g. professional athletes, teachers, and corporate executives)

Neurotechnology can produce the following benefits.

Reduction in Stress

Reduced Muscle Tension

Accelerated Learning

Increased Memory

Boost Immune Function

Increased Alertness

Boost I.Q.

Improved Sleep Habits

Increased Blood Supply To the Brain

Neurotechnology tools may assist in helping of symptoms associated with an unregulated brain. Some of the symptoms may include...

Behavior Challenges

Inattention

Emotional Disorders

Hyperactivity

Autism Spectrum Disorder

Impulsivity

Specific Learning Disabilities

Anxiety

Substance Abuse

Sleep Problems

Headaches/Migraines

Chronic Pain

High Blood Pressure

Dementia

Uncontrolled Seizures

Depression

Tourette Syndrome

Fibromyalgia

Aggressiveness

Argumentativeness

What Is EEG Neurofeedback?

EEG Neurofeedback is a biofeedback process, which utilizes computer technology to turn brainwave signals into meaningful information. This training is simply giving feedback about what ones brainwaves are doing.   Feeding back information about brain activity allows an individual to learn to self-regulate information presented to them. The feedback is displayed to the person by means of a video display or video game, complete with sounds.   The person is just asked to "make the video game go!".   When ones brainwave activity runs at an optimal and efficient level, the video game moves faster and faster.

Gradually, the brain responds to the cues, and "learning" of new brainwave patterns emerge. Training sessions are provided at minimum of 2 sessions per week.

What Is Audio Visual Entrainment?

AppleMark Audio Visual Entrainment, also called AVE or Light and Sound, exposes the visual channel to pulsating lights and auditory channel to rhythmic beats or tones. Through the light and sound experience, Audio Visual Entrainment exposes the brain to useful patterns for enhancement and allows the brain to be more accessible to the person. Audio Visual Entrainment can help one reach a state of deep relaxation as a means for stress reduction and self-improvement. Much like a person can be lulled into serenity by the flickering firelight of a campfire, AVE entrains the person to adapt into a relaxed and focused state of being. AVE has been recognized in many schools districts as useful tool for academic enhancement especially for students with learning challenges. The AVE device is not only portable, but also can be conveniently done in the privacy of your home.
