The Turnquist Child Enrichment Center is a program of A Chance to Grow, Inc., a human service non-profit agency that sponsors a variety of programs.

HOURS OF OPERATION
Monday through Friday
6:30 am to 5:30 pm

PHILOSOPHY
The philosophy of the Turnquist Child Enrichment Center is to encourage children to be actively involved in the learning process, to experience a variety of developmentally appropriate activities and materials, and to pursue their own interests in all areas which will help them reach their maximum potential. We will provide a stimulating environment which allows for play in all areas of development: cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and language.

We will provide a positive, nurturing environment for children with special needs or without to develop their potential as positive, healthy individuals.

GOALS

  • To provide a safe, happy, and positive environment to care for
    children.
  • To foster maximum growth of each child.
  • To help each child to identify and express his and her emotions.
  • To facilitate each child learning social skills with other children and
adult care givers in the program.
  • To develop cognitive skills at the appropriate age level.
  • To provide support for parents to help enhance the parent/child
    relationship in a positive way.
  • To provide a stimulating and challenging place for teachers of
children to use their talents ; to positively influence and give of
    their knowledge and love.
  • To prepare children for the future by challenging and nurturing them
in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust.
  • To make general physical, emotional, and intellectual assessments,
and to help families arrange for outside or in house resources as
    needed.
  • To offer a curriculum with emphasis on social development, language
development, readiness skills for school, early literacy, cultural
diversity, large and small motor coordination, and sensory
    integration.

Strong Beginnings Partnership

Turnquist partners with Hennepin County and is one of 11 Strong Beginnings
Sites in the state of Minnesota. Our partnership believes that learning
begins at birth; our center works with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers
to help prepare them for success in school and life. Your child will develop
important skills at our center: how to get along with others, how to
communicate, physical coordination, how to problem solve, and how to listen
and follow directions.

In independent testing of children entering the Minneapolis School District,
Strong Beginnings students tested solidly on track for reading success,
surpassing the scores of all entering kindergarteners. We are honored to be
a part of the Strong Beginnings Sites and hope that our early education
program will benefit your child and family.
